To contribute to the development, implementation and review of the trusts Estates Strategy and to work closely with the Estates Managers in the development of plant replacement programmes for designed site services.

To contribute to the development of a maintenance department workforce plan.

To provide highly specialist technical support and advice to the Estates Managers as required.

To provide detailed advice and support on record keeping for legislative compliance.

To provide cover for the other Estates managers in their absence.

To undertake the specialist lead/responsible/authorised person and/or support role for the following technical site wide services: High Voltage Electrical systems, Low Voltage Electrical Services Emergency backup generators, Fire alarm systems, Lifts and lifting equipment

The post holder with have to be able to work on HV & LV electrical systems, emergency backup generators, fire alarm systems, lifts and lifting equipment and building management systems.

Be able to prioritise own workload, able to respond to emergency situations and understand the correct routes of escalation and communication.

To be able to work on own, with other members of the maintenance team, senior managers, regulators/ inspectors and the capital projects team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree plus specialist knowledge or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience i.e. Relevant electrical qualification and portfolio permitting IHEEM or ImechE registration. Postgraduate/diploma level or equivalent i.e. Authorised Persons qualification in LV or HV electrical infrastructure, LOLER or pressure systems.
  • Asbestos awareness recognised qualification at QCF level 3 or above.
  • Qualified electrician IEE 18TH Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations.

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional organisation e.g. IET, CIBSE, etc.
  • Recognised qualification in management or leadership at QCF level 5 or above.

Experience

Essential

  • Appointed Authorised person for either LV/HV distribution systems or the relevant qualifications to achieve this.
  • Previous management experience of multi-skilled engineering team.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a qualified electrician.
  • Extensive experience in operational electrical engineering maintenance High level of electrical engineering knowledge, techniques, systems and standards.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and risk management

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NHS or other healthcare environment.
  • Experienced in the use of Estates Management software systems.
