Relevant AP duties (HTM 06-02 LV / HTM 06-03 HV)
Assisting and supporting estate officers
Mentoring assistants and those working towards a craftsperson's role
Cover the supervisor role when required
Cover estate officer basic duty's when off site
Correct attitude and mindset setting an example to the rest of the team
Problem solving complicated electrical functions leading to a resolution
Have/Attain detailed site knowledge and understanding of the electrical plant and equipment.
Work closely with the estate officers in key maintenance functions to achieve compliance
Take responsibility for completing key actions from Electrical Installation Condition Reports
Lead the electrical team, liaising with clinical staff for maintenance related tasks
Ordering of electrical/mechanical related materials
Carry out maintenance tasks including statutory, mandatory, planned preventative and reactive maintenance
The use of electronic devices, PDA and IPAD for work allocation and completion of planned/reactive works.
Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his / her background and training, often without supervision
Assist in the setting out of new work, (identify materials for ordering and collect) using relevant tools and equipment, often without supervision
Use a flexible approach to perform a wide range of the duties
Manufacture, assembly, erection and installation of new work, without supervision
Undertake specific maintenance and repairs after dedicated in house training
Use and be competent in the use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works
Learn new techniques, with training as necessary
Have an understanding of the relationship of other engineering staffs trade to your own

Qualifications
Essential
- Recognized time served apprenticeship
- BTEC/ONC level or any of the following
- City & Guilds Certificate :- Electrical Installation LEVEL 3
- NVQ Level 3 in an electrical structured training programme
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of modern A/C equipment
- 18th Edition Wiring regulations
- HVAC Knowledge
- Electrical AP (
- IOSH Working Safely
Desirable: - Multiskilling qualification; - Full clean driving license
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of the provision of maintenance services and thorough knowledge of building, engineering, particularly related to regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the given service functions
- Knowledge of Health & Safety/Risk Management issues
- Good organisational and managerial skills, ability to prioritise and organise own and departmental workloads
- Experienced at working to deadlines
- Ability to manage own time multi-tasking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills along with a proven track record in professionalism, when communicating with people with strong opposing views
- Proven ability to ensure a constructive balance between empowering others to act and holding to account in order to achieve agreed targets and delivery of a high level of service
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and academic progression
- Able to exercise independent judgment
- Skilled at working with multi-disciplinary teams
Desirable: - Ability to produce reports in relation to facilities services in the NHS environment.

Experience
Essential
- Time served tradesperson and demonstrable post apprentice experience as electrical craftsman / electrician
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of identifying fault/flaws from complex electrical drawings
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) Time served tradesperson and demonstrable post apprentice experience as electrical craftsman / electrician
- Have proven supervisory experience
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of identifying fault/flaws from complex electrical drawings
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary Estates & Facilities team
- Experience of working in an acute hospital environment.
- Experience of AP Procedures.
- Prepared to undertake any training as necessary
Desirable: - Experience working on Fire Damper Systems/Controls
