We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and patient-focused Dispensary Assistant to join our friendly GP practice team. The successful candidate ...
- Assist with the preparation, assembly and labelling of prescriptions under appropriate supervision.
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures.
- Provide a friendly and professional service to patients collecting medication.
- Deal with routine prescription and dispensary enquiries, referring clinical queries to the appropriate clinician or qualified member of the dispensary team.
- Receive, check, store and rotate medicines and dispensary supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering medicines and other supplies.
- Check expiry dates and assist with the appropriate disposal of expired medicines.
- Maintain accurate dispensing and stock records.
- Assist with stock checks, audits and other dispensary quality and safety processes.
- Maintain a clean, organised and secure dispensary.
- Work closely with the wider GP practice and healthcare team.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with practice policies and procedures.
To support the safe, accurate and efficient operation of the practice dispensary and provide a high-quality, patient-focused dispensing service.
The post holder will work as part of the dispensary and wider practice team, assisting with prescription processing, dispensing, stock management and patient enquiries, in accordance with practice policies, standard operating procedures and relevant legal and professional requirements.
The post holder will work within the limits of their training and competence and will refer clinical, complex or uncertain matters to an appropriately qualified member of the team.

Knockin Medical Centre is a rural practice with a diverse population of approximately 4200 patients spanning North Shropshire with a small number in Wales.

- Experience of working in a role requiring accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
- Previous experience in a GP practice, pharmacy, dispensary or healthcare environment.
- Experience of working with members of the public or providing a patient/customer-facing service.
- Experience of working with medicines or prescription-related processes.
Desirable: - Experience of working in a GP Practice
