The Royal Marsden Private Care is a dedicated private diagnostics and treatment centre located on Cavendish Square. As a specialist cancer centre, Cavendish Square has the clinical expertise, facilities andtechnology to provide leading private care service. Leadership qualities across the clinical and non-clinical aspects of an International service model will be required to ensure service excellence, which exceedspatient / customer expectations. Cavendish Square will link in with the Royal Marsden's two other hospital sites, which are located in Chelsea and Sutton and a Medical Day Unit at Kingston Hospital.

Be responsible for all aspects of daily operational management, delivering key performance targets and quality measures (with support from the Divisional Nurse Director (DND).

Provide clinical leadership to the nursing and administrative teams, maintaining credibility through practice and provide a high quality and safe patient service, which exceeds patient expectations.

Liaise effectively with members of the Multi-Disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a coordinated specialist service across all Trust sites.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration (NMC)
  • Diploma or Degree level study (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Masters degree or equivalent job related experience or post grad calibre

Desirable

  • Qualification in oncology ILS/ALS
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Leadership qualification
  • Experience in accreditation processes

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration nursing experience in oncology or speciality to be confident and competent in using the required skills to do the job.
  • Current experience in managing the deteriorating oncology patient, including the safe transfer of patients
  • Significant experience in Clinical Management and leadership
  • Experience in a large complex organisation and/or NHS
  • Good understanding of the clinical and non-clinical aspects of an International service model
  • Success in achieving substantial organisation change and implementing highly complex projects
  • Experience of change initiatives within and operational and clinical team
  • Experience of managing projects involving clinicians and track record of successful engagement with clinical leaders

Skills Abilities/knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills with particular ability to liaise with multidisciplinary team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality issues
  • Evidence of understanding the NHS policy
  • Computer Literacy (eg: Microsoft Word and Outlook) Able to lead Root Cause Analysis investigations to facilitate staff in identifying and embedding areas for improvement in the provision of high quality and safe care
  • Able to manage multiple and complex projects including tracking of plans and actions
  • Able to present confidently and persuasively to small and large groups
  • Able to present complex information appropriately to the Trust's Governance Committees
  • Ability to lead audit activities to assess and monitor the quality of care. Implement change based on the findings.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work flexibly as part of a team cross all sites
  • Highly proficient in the use of standard office software packages
  • Ability to think innovatively in a work context

Other Requirements

Essential

  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service (e.g. shift work)
  • Able to work on all Trust sites as required and to be flexible to meet the needs of the role
