Registered Manager – Children's Short Breaks / Respite Service Shrewsbury | £50,000 - £55,000

Are you an experienced Children's Home Manager or Deputy Manager looking for a role that's a little different from the traditional children's home model? We're recruiting for an Ofsted Registered Manager to lead a specialist children's short-break service in Shrewsbury, providing respite stays for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and physical disabilities. This isn't a traditional children's home. The service provides short breaks of around 2-3 nights, giving children and young people the opportunity to enjoy a fun, exciting and positive stay away from home, with activities and experiences planned around their individual needs, interests and wishes. The Registered Manager Role As the Ofsted Registered Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for the leadership and operational management of the home, ensuring that children receive high-quality, child-centred care and that the service continues to meet all regulatory and safeguarding requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and supporting an experienced staff team to deliver high-quality, individualised care.Ensuring admissions and short-break stays are effectively planned around each child's needs, wishes and interests.Working closely with families, social workers, schools, healthcare professionals and other partner agencies.Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring safeguarding concerns are identified and responded to promptly and appropriately.Overseeing referrals and assessments and ensuring appropriate planning is in place before children attend the service.Supporting the recruitment and selection of suitably skilled staff, ensuring safer recruitment practices are followed.Building strong and positive relationships with children, families and the wider community.Completing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly audits in line with the service's audit schedule.Ensuring the home operates in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements and relevant safeguarding legislation.

What we're looking for It's essential that you have:

At least 2 years' management experience within the last 5 years, working as a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager within a children's home or children's service.A good understanding of Ofsted requirements and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation and procedures.A genuine passion for delivering child-centred care and improving outcomes for children and young people. Experience with disabilities isn't essential - If you're currently working with children and young people with EBD and are interested in moving into a specialist LD/autism service, this could be an excellent opportunity. The organisation can support you to develop your knowledge and experience of working with children with learning disabilities and physical needs. You'll also need to be able to work flexibly around the needs of the service. Children attend from Wednesday through to Monday, and management cover is shared between the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and two Team Leaders. As a result, you'll be expected to work at least 1 weekend in 4 as part of the management rota. Interested?
