Organise and plan own clinic's workload autonomously and work with minimal supervision. Identify patient's nursing needs during treatment and provide care to meet those needs. This will include ensuring patients are provided with suitable appointment times and are able to access the clinic safely, taking into consideration their special care requirement so Good organisational and planning skills to ensure effective provision of the service make appointments for patients when required and liaise with CDS team members to ensure the smooth running of clinics
Maintain continuing professional development by regularly updating skills in Dental Nursing, Manual Handling, Oral Health Promotion, Child Protection, Health and Safety Training and Infection Control.
Current driving licence. To be flexible to travel to any clinic at short notice for service provision drive the van, if required to support domiciliary visits. Awareness of procedures pertaining to emergencies and mechanical or road traffic accidents is the responsibility of all staff travelling in HB vehicles.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This is a clinical post within Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) Community Dental Service (CDS). As a member of thedental team, you will be required to travel to any of the CDS clinics within SBUHB/occasionally Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend asnecessary.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
- NVQ 3 or equivalent training plus experience to diploma level or equivalent Registered Dental Nurse, registration with GDC Duties of a Registered Dental Nurse
- Maintain continuing professional development and regular updating of skills.
- Current Infection Control Standards including decontamination and sterilization of contaminated equipment and disposal of contaminated clinical waste. Appropriate pre and post operative advice to carers and patients.
- Awareness of Risk Assessment and Health and Safety Policy compliance
Desirable
- Further qualifications such as: Oral Health Promotion Special Care Dentistry Sedation Orthodontics Radiography
- Participation in Audit Specialist knowledge and experience of using specific communications skills.
- Good patient management skills
Essential Experience
Essential
- Experience working as a chairside dental nurse
Desirable
- Experience of working in a Community Dental Service and/or Hospital Dental Service
- Experience of working with GA lists
- Reception and clerical duties
