As a CSSD Technician you will play a key role in delivering all decontamination related duties based within the Sterile Services Department at both University Hospital North Tees and University Hospital Hartlepool Endoscope Decontamination Units.
The post holder will work in line with the departmental work instructions, whilst adhering to the ISO accredited policies and procedures in all aspects of the Sterile Services Department and flexible endoscope decontamination.
Receipt, sorting and preparing of reusable medical devices including endoscopes for cleaning and disinfection.
Inspection, re-assembly, function testing, packaging, sealing and labelling of reusable medical devices that have been satisfactorily washed, disinfected and dried.
Carry out required independent checking of instrument trays (for others) ensuring the contents are correct and reporting any discrepancies.
Maintaining an awareness of the basic types and categories of instruments, flexible scopes according to their function and identify the points for inspection and test procedures.

Qualifications
Essential
- Willing to work towards a Decontamination Qualification or TVQ Level 2
Desirable
- TVQ Level 2. Member of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of working in Sterile Services or similar industry with transferrable skills.
Desirable
- Experience in Sterile Services or ISO 13485 and MDD Standards
Skills
Essential
- Excellent listening/communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team member
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Good keyboard, IT skills. High level of literacy and numeracy
Desirable
- Experience in LEAN principles
- Empathetic to individuals learning styles
