Depending on the skills of the successful candidate an opportunity exists to take part in the acute medical on-call.
We are also able to offer an attractive recruitment package to include:
- Named Mentor for the first year of employment to facilitate settling in to the new working environment
- Additional allocation of SPA time within the job plan for the first 2 years in order to allow time for service development (typically 7.5:2.5 split between DCC and SPA time)
- Access to additional study leave funding for the first 2 years of employment
Full and Specialist Registration and a license to practice with the GMC is essential. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR). The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is also essential.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the point of application
- Membership of Royal College of Physicians or show evidence of equivalent qualification
Desirable: - An appropriate higher degree
Experience
Essential
- Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan
- Understanding of all aspects of Stroke Medicine
- Ability to maintain clinical credibility and authority with a multi-professional team including senior trainees
Desirable: - Five years supervised training in an appropriate SpR equivalent training programme; - Stroke Fellowship
Teaching
Desirable: - Demonstrable ability as a teacher with evidence of training for the role
Research
Essential: - Ability to convert research evidence into clinical practice
Desirable: - Publications in peer-reviewed journals
Management & Administrative experience
Essential: - Ability to effectively organise and manage clinical workload
Desirable: - The potential to develop management and leadership skills
Other
Essential
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
- Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit
Desirable: - Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels
