This is a specialist Breast Radiology post (screening/symptomatic). These posts have come about due to retirement of colleagues from the Breast Imagin...

The department of radiology is based predominantly on 2 sites - Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital. Currently there are 33 Consultantradiologists.They work extended days Monday to Friday until 8pm and work on site at weekends 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.

The departments are busy with general and specialty imaging and in 2020/21 completed over 83,000 CT exams, 23,000 MRI exams, 50,000 NOUS exams, 26,000 Obstetric US, 4,500 Nuclear Medicine exams, 10,500 Angio/fluoro exams and 161,500 radiology exams.

Breast MRIs and PET/CT are performed in the Cobalt Unit in Linton House, which is opposite the Breast Unit. There is a close working relationship with the Cobalt unit who provide support for research as well as clinical activities

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full General Medical Council registration.
  • On GMC Specialist Register via: CCT or CESR-CP (Combined Programme) (proposed CCT/CESR-CP date must be within 6 months of interview) Portfolio pathway or CESR, European Community Rights

Desirable

  • Additional degrees, diplomas or postgraduate thesis relevant to the specialty

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of participation in Audit and Clinical Governance Programmes
  • Ability to manage and lead a breast imaging team
  • Ability to teach clinical and imaging interpretative skills
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
  • Ability to appraise research critically and apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
  • Ability to supervise junior staff undertaking research projects

Desirable

  • Attendance on a management course
  • Ability to teach clinical and operative skills
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
  • Strong record of peer reviewed publications and presentation/lecturing.
  • Experience with grant application writing.

Clinical/Experience

  • Evidence of a broad training in general radiology and cross-sectional imaging.
  • Evidence of appropriate sub-specialty training in screening and symptomatic breast imaging including cross-sectional imaging and intervention appropriate to breast imaging.

Desirable

  • Fellowship training in breast radiology.
