Consultant Cellular Pathologist

Our department is undergoing significant transformation, including the implementation of digital pathology and expansion of molecular pathology services, providing excellent opportunities for professional development and innovation.

Applicants must hold GMC Specialist Registration (or be within six months of obtaining CCT/CESR equivalence) and FRCPath (or equivalent), with significant experience in GI and Gynaecological pathology reporting.

The main requirement is for someone who can report on specimen in the subspecialties of Gastrointestinal Pathology, Gynaecological Pathology, Bowel Cancer Screening programme and Cervical Screening Histology and non-gynae cytology.

o The post has been designed for candidates who wish to gather the necessary evidence and develop skills & qualities required for entry to the GMC specialist register via the CESR pathway. So, there may be an opportunity to rotate through other specialties after one year (if the contract is renewed).

o Participation in clinico-pathologic meetings and in Multidisciplinary Team meetings (MDTs) will be expected mostly in the role of deputy leads.

We're proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
