- The post holder will work collaboratively with private, independent and charitable providers, other disciplines, and the patient (and their family or carers when appropriate) to formulate and agree on holistic person-centred care that addresses the specific needs of this patient group.
- They will take a lead role in ensuring a cohesive multi-disciplinary approach is adopted in meeting the health and social care needs of adults with a learning disability and autism who are accessing specialist mental health services.
- The post holder will also have a pivotal role in the education and development of skills and awareness of the mental health, psychological and social needs of adults with a learning disability and autism including practical support to a range of professionals/agencies to ensure reasonable adjustments are taken to effectively meet needs for a designated locality.
- To advocate for patients with a diagnosis of learning disability and autism, and demonstrate a high level of professional curiosity.
- To promote a culture of openness, transparency and responsiveness.Provide a strong clinical presence, sound leadership, and mental health, learning disability and autism clinical expertise and practices with a significant contribution to direct care by participating in reviews such as CPA, and CTRs to facilitate timely discharge.
- To support the design and implementation of clinical care pathways and the menu of interventions.

The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas.
As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month.
5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,346 per year and a maximum payment of £2,270 per year (the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly) (2026/27 figures)

Training Qualifications and Registration
Essential: - RMN or RNLD registered nurse, degree educated, with NMC registration; - Active Practice Assessor (previously mentorship) Qualification

- Significant Experience of working in an inpatient setting
- Up to date knowledge and clinical leadership on all aspects of mental health and learning disability nursing
Knowledge and Skills
Essential: - Ability to monitor staff performance; - Effective management of resources; - Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
