Working in a fast-paced clinical environment, you will adapt to the changing acuity of the department while delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include providing personal care, assisting patients with nutritional needs, recording vital signs, and conducting pain assessments. You will perform wound care, including cleaning wounds and applying dressings, and assist with wound closure under the supervision of a registered practitioner.
Clinical duties also include phlebotomy, cannulation, blood glucose monitoring, pregnancy testing, urine testing (including preparation for microscopy as instructed), and recording ECGs. You will apply plaster of Paris back slabs, splints, and bandages, and assess patients for crutch use, including correct fitting and instruction.
In addition, you will maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised environment by cleaning all areas of the department, decontaminating cubicles, and preparing clinical areas for patient use.
Shift patterns include 07:0019:30, 12:0000:00, and 19:0007:30. Applicants should carefully consider these hours when applying, as public transport options may not be compatible with the operational requirements of the department.

Criteria
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (RQF accredited) or NHS England accredited Care Certificate, with evidence of full completion of the knowledge and work based assessments / relevant experience
- Moving and Handling Certificate
- Evidence of practical training or education in a care setting
- Basic Life Support Certificate
Desirable
- Practical skills in providing essential aspects of care.
- Manual handling skills
