The West London Children's Healthcare Clinical Education Team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated senior paediatric nurse...
- To support the implementation of a West London Children's Healthcare wide nursing education strategy that links to the workforce strategy and the divisional strategic plan.
- To be an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced communication and nursing skills, using expert knowledge and decision making skills in children's nursing.
- To provide excellent visible clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice across children's services.
- Support the paediatric senior team when involved with capability or performance management to ensure that they are able to undertake their role in regular education and assessment of that staff member.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within your clinical competence.
- The post holder will be expected to work a minimum of 20% in a direct clinical capacity to maintain competency. They will also be expected to work clinically alongside nursing staff supporting their learning needs as identified.
- Work strategically and operationally with the divisional team in ensuring that clinical policies, procedures, guidelines and educational programmes meet the needs of the division.

Education
Essential
- Registered Children's Nurse on NMC register
- Student assessor or mentorship qualification
- Relevant post-registration accredited clinical course
- Evidence of a teaching qualification or working towards and/or Advance higher education fellowship or working towards
- EPALS/APLS
Desirable: - Leadership or management qualification
Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration experience in one or more of the following areas: Paediatric high dependency care District general paediatric clinical environments Child and adolescence mental health
- Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement agenda
- Experience of teaching both within clinical practice and within a formal classroom setting
- Excellent speciality knowledge relevant to general paediatric care and ward based nursing practice
- Experience undertaking audits and developing action plans to improve clinical practice
Desirable
- Experience of managing poor performance
- Experience of managing a team
- Experience of working with HEIs and undergraduate nursing programmes
- Experience of clinical apprenticeship programmes
Skills
Essential
- Demonstrable teaching skills and knowledge including managing the assessment of learners needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of education programmes.
- Ability to develop individuals through mentorship/coaching/clinical supervision
- Ability to work across the multi professional team and organisational boundaries
- Awareness of current professional issues within children and young people's nursing
- Interviewing and personal development appraisal skills
Desirable
- Awareness of NHS reforms and professional issues relating to the design and delivery of clinical education
- Ability to work full shift pattern including rotation, nights, twilight shifts, weekends & bank holidays as relevant to area
- Competency in the management of central venous access devices
