Job Summary The General Surgery Department at Weston General Hospital is seeking a motivated ST3+ level Clinical Fellow to join our team in delivering...
- Contribute to the delivery of emergency and elective general surgical services
- Participate in the General Surgery on-call rota (1:9 full-shift pattern, including non-resident night shifts)
- Support Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways
- Participate in elective day-case surgery (benign Upper GI and colorectal)
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Engage in teaching, audit, and quality improvement activities
- Maintain high standards of clinical governance and patient safety

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Minimum 2 years Core Training level experience (or equivalent) in Surgery.
- Experience managing general surgical patients
- Experience of prescribing medication safely and understanding common side effects.
- Experience working within emergency surgical services
- Understanding of audit and governance processes.
- Ability to assess and manage acutely unwell patients
Desirable: - Previous experience in Emergency Medicine.; - Experience undertaking quality improvement or research projects

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
- Minimum CT2 equivalent surgical experience
- Part II MRCS2
- ATLS
- Basic Surgical Skills Course
- cCrISP Course
Desirable: - Higher level degrees; - Train the trainers; - FRCS

- IT literacy including Microsoft Office applications.
- Integrity and professionalism
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and make timely decisions
- Fluent English speaker
