Clinical Fellow ST1/2 in ENT

The Department of ENT is looking for an enthusiastic SHO (or equivalent) to join our team on a fixed term basis. This post will give the successful applicant clinical experience in all areas of ENT including the assessment and clinical management of emergency patients. There are research opportunities and the postholder may undertake clinical and medical audit to demonstrate clinical outcomes and clinical effectiveness of the clinical care pathways in ENT. The post is supported by a large team of doctors at all levels who provide a 24/7 elective and emergency service. The department also works very closely with the Department of Audiovestibular Medicine and the two services share a purpose built outpatient area. The following responsibilities are common to all posts in the Trust and should be included at somepoint in the job description. The successful applicant will be expected to work with local managers and professionalcolleagues in the efficient running of services and will share with consultant colleagues inthe efficient running of services and will share with consultant colleagues in the medicalcontribution to management. He/she will be expected to observe the Trusts agreed policiesand procedures drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters and to followthe standing orders and financial instruction of the Trust. Qualifications

Essential: - Full registration with the GMC or GDc

Desirable: - MRCS; - previous NHS Experience

Experience and ability

Essential: - Experience as an ENT or surgical SHO; - Evidence of continuing medical education (must demonstrate participation in CPD)

Desirable: - Experience in ENT at SHO level

Teaching

Essential: - Ability to teach therapy staff, nurses and medical students

Desirable: - Evidence of interest in teaching

Research

Essential: - Experience of research, particularly in collaboration with other clinicians

Desirable: - willingness to continue participation in research

Disposition

Essential: - Potential to cope with stressful situations, undertake responsibility, be enthusiastic and approachable and a team player

Other

Essential: - Excellent communication skills; - Ability to travel between Trust sites
