Children's Nurse Trainer

• Deliver approved training programmes for delegated healthcare tasks, including seizure management, emergency medication, anaphylaxis, enteral feeding, and other agreed clinical procedures.
• Adapt delivery to the learner and setting whilemaintainingthe content,standards,and learning outcomes of approved materials.
• Demonstrate clinical procedures and assess learners against approved competency frameworks, escalatingconcernsor complex decisions to an appropriately experienced practitioner.
• Provide refresher,update,and remedial training within agreed pathways.
• Supportparentsand carers to develop the knowledge, skills and confidencerequiredto undertake agreed healthcare tasks safely.
• Contribute to CCN induction, clinical skills updates, studysessions,and student learning within the post holders competence.
• Promote a positive,inclusive,and psychologically safe learning environment.
• Evaluate sessions, gather learnerfeedback,andidentifythemes for review by the Education and Training Lead.

• Respond to allocated training requests and consult with families, schools, care providers, agencies, and clinical colleagues to arrange delivery.
• Check that current care plans,prescriptions, riskinformation,andappropriate equipmentare available before child-specific training or assessment.
• Maintainaccuratetraining,attendance,and competency records on approved systemsin accordance withinformation governance requirements.
• Monitor outstanding actions forallocatedlearners, escalating delays,risks,or non-compliance promptly.
• Support collection and validation of activity, demand, capacity,quality,and outcome data.
• Assistwith the maintenance of training resources, equipment and stock, reporting defects or shortages.
• Ensure contemporaneous documentation in line with Trust policy and NMC professional standards.

• Work within the NMC Code, current registration, level of competence and approved Trust policies,protocols,and clinical guidelines.
• Maintain relevant clinical competence through supervised practice, continuing professional development and regular clinical work as agreed.
• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care under an individualised plan of care when rostered to support CCN clinical activity.
• Recognise deterioration, safeguarding concerns, unsafepractice,or limitations in learner competence and take immediate action in line with escalation procedures.
• Confirm that delegation isappropriate onlywithin approved governance arrangements; refer complex, unusual or high-risk training and competency decisions to a Band 6 or Band 7 practitioner.
• Communicate effectively with children, youngpeopleand families, using developmentallyappropriateand accessible approaches.
• Maintain infection prevention, medicines management, moving and handling and lone-working standards relevant to the role.

• Work collaboratively with the Education and Training Lead, Clinical Educators, localityteamsand other members of the Childrens Community Nursing Service.
• Liaise professionally with education settings, care agencies, families, acuteservicesand partner organisations to support coordinated training and safe care.
• Explain clinical information clearly, sensitively and without jargon, checking understanding and responding appropriately to questions or anxiety.
• Raise issues affecting training quality, learner competence, childsafetyor service capacity through the agreed governance route.
• Contribute to team meetings, clinicalsupervision,and service learning.
