Carry out and report at a specialized level a range of cardiac diagnostic tests. A minimum should be to be able to scan and report to a BSE standard adult echocardiograms in both Inpatient and outpatient settings.

To assist in the training of the Clinical Physiologists and Student Physiologists within the department.

To support the lead physiologist in the organisation of the day to day work within the Heart and Chest Clinic

To adhere to the policies and procedures of the Heart and Chest Department.

Any other duties as requested by Principal Clinical Physiologist.

Contribute to the reduction of healthcare acquired infection by ensuring a high standard of infection control practice in the light of research current best evidence and legislation

The postholder will be responsible for excellent time management and will be confident in looking for support when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelors degree - Cardiac Physiology (or equivalent qualification)
  • Achievement of BSE examination

Desirable

  • Full BSE accreditation

Experience

Essential

  • Indepth experience in echocardiography and application to patients
  • Evidence of clinical decision making to a high standard

Skills

Essential

  • Extensive communication skills; explaining procedures / findings to patients
  • Excellent organisation skills; clinically and personally
