As a Nurse Team Leader, the post holder plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality mental health care while providing strong clinical and operational leadership. They are responsible for maintaining professional standards in line with the NMC Code of Conduct and supporting the Ward Manager in ensuring effective communication, organisation, and team cohesion. The Nurse Team Leader may be allocated to take charge of the ward, oversee clinical activities, and address professional or patient-related concerns.

Key clinical responsibilities include conducting nursing assessments, planning and evaluating care programmes, participating in ward rounds, and ensuring safe administration of medications. They advocate for patients' rights under the Mental Health Act and offer expert guidance to colleagues managing complex cases. Educational duties involve supervising nursing students, delivering induction training, and contributing to research and audits that enhance mental health nursing practice.

Security responsibilities include safeguarding patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to safety protocols and ensuring patients' custody aligns with their leave status. Through a combination of clinical excellence, leadership, and educational engagement, the Nurse Team Leader ensures that patient care remains compassionate, safe, and evidence-based.

Essential

  • RMN
  • Sub part 1 of the NMC Register
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Commitment to Lifelong Learning and completion of the rotational developmental programme of training.
