As a Catering Assistant, you'll assist catering staff in meal preparation and cooking, serve meals and beverages to users, staff, and visitors, maintain storage and stock rotation, ensure cleanliness and hygiene in all areas, and collaborate with the broader team, including dietitians, regarding dietary plans. The role involves working 21 hours a week at Pinhoe View, a new facility providing mental health services. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the chefs to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe working environment, and assist with deliveries. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.

- Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
- Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
- Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
- As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)
- Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
- Experience of working within similar role.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Location: Pinhoe View, College Way, Exeter, EX1 3PZ
Pinhoe View is a new purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards and eight individual flats. The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.

Essential
- Relevant Catering Qualification is desirable. Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP, experience in a similar role, and basic numeracy and literacy skills are required.
