  • Greet and welcome visitors in a professional and friendly manner- Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls- Provide accurate information to callers and direct them to the appropriate person or department- Maintain a tidy and organised reception area- Receive and sort daily mail and deliveries- Schedule appointments and maintain appointment calendars- Perform basic clerical tasks such as photocopying, filing, and faxing- Assist with data entry and record keeping- Manage inventory of office supplies and place orders when necessary- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed

  • Proven work experience as a receptionist or in a similar role- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively- Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills- Ability to type accurately and efficiently- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills- Professional appearance and demeanor

Maybury Surgery is a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice based in Woking, Surrey, providing high-quality NHS primary care to our local community.

We are a well-established practice with a strong focus on patient-centred care, teamwork and continuous improvement. Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, nursing staff, healthcare assistants, clinical pharmacy and dedicated administrative and reception teams, working collaboratively to deliver safe, effective and accessible care.

We are a very small team lead by our GP partner. With 2 clinical pharmacists, one nurse, 2 HCAs, admin staff, APM and PM

Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare, primary care, social care or administrative environment.
  • Good understanding of the needs of patients with long-term conditions, complex needs, older people and/or vulnerable patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using electronic systems and databases.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date patient records.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, information governance and data protection requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience and a non-judgemental approach when supporting patients.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and treating patients with dignity and respect.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, Business Administration, Care or a related subject.
  • Experience working within a GP practice, NHS, community healthcare or social care setting.
  • Knowledge of local health, social care and voluntary-sector services.
  • Experience of care planning, social prescribing, signposting or coordinating support for patients.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web, SystmOne or other primary-care clinical systems.
  • Experience supporting patients with multiple or complex needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and referral pathways.
