The Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) plays a vital role within the multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Team, delivering expert clinical care, edu...

In this rewarding role, you will

  • Act as a key worker; delivering evidence based, personalised care through holistic assessment, care planning and evaluation of care for patients diagnosed with lung cancer, through treatment and follow up. This might be via a clinic, inpatient or remote follow up setting.
  • To identify and support patients who are vulnerable. Enabling them to have a smoothjourney through the lung cancer pathway.
  • To work at an enhanced level to plan and provide clinical care and psychological support to patients with a cancer diagnosis who have complex needs.
  • To provide holistic care for patients at all stages of their cancer pathway, delivering a high standard of person-centred care, supporting a culture of supported self-management.
  • To provide specialised advice to patients and their carers in relation to a cancerdiagnosis and its treatment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC registration
  • Demonstrates evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Diploma/Degree in relevant area or evidence of study to that level

Desirable

  • Post registration training preferably in cancer/palliative care.

Experience

Essential

  • Thorough up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice particularly within the specialty area
  • Evidence of relevant clinical experience at Band 5 in Oncology or respiratory gained in the NHS

Desirable

  • Demonstrates knowledge of cancer pathways and targets
