  • This is a key commercial role within BSPS, responsible for developing our existing commercial portfolio and identifying new opportunities for growth and income generation.
  • You will lead private-sector opportunities and commercial relationships across the network, working closely with partner Trusts, clinical and operational teams, Finance and external stakeholders.
  • You will act as lead manager for designated commercial partnerships, ensuring contractual and operational requirements are met, and relationships are developed and strengthened.
  • You will lead the contracting process for BSPS, including Service Level Agreements, provider-to-provider contracts and specialist commissioning contracts.
  • You will monitor SLA performance, work with stakeholders to address variance and ensure commercial arrangements are effectively managed.
  • You will also lead business development and planning activity, using market intelligence, benchmarking and good-quality data to identify and evaluate service development opportunities.
  • This will include developing business cases, supporting business planning and coordinating capacity and workforce planning.
  • Working closely with Finance, you will manage the finances of commercial partnerships and ensure opportunities maximise income to BSPS.
  • You will identify and mitigate financial, operational and contractual risks and ensure commercial activity complies with relevant NHS financial, procurement, contracting and governance requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • ?Degree or equivalent in Business Management and Project Management
  • ?Post graduate management qualification or minimum 5 years in a management role in the NHS or commercial sector

Desirable

  • ?Finance diploma or degree
  • ?Knowledge of local influencing factors e.g. LIFT, local development plans

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining relationships with external organisations.
  • Developed experience in the production of outline business cases and full business cases.
  • Proven financial and commercial management experience through delivery of financial targets.
  • Demonstrable experience in service improvement and change management.
  • Proven project management experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of NHS contracting and procurement guidelines.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of contracting process.
  • Extensive knowledge of people and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of finance databases.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
