Advanced Health Care Scientist with experience and specialist knowledge in Transfusion Science and the requirements of the BSQR and ISO15189.
To meet standards required to achieve and maintain all aspects of BSQR standards as inspected by the MHRA and ISO 15189 as assessed by UKAS.
Ensures the Laboratory systems are functioning correctly in order to provide clear and appropriate reports in a format that allows the service users/clients access to accurate and updated patient care test results and traceability records.
As specialised staff they will be required to train and demonstrate methodologies to medical staff, clinical scientists, other BMS staff, new entrant staff, students and medical laboratory assistants (MLA).
There may be requirement to support in other areas within the service as required.

- MSc Biomedical Sciences or equivalent (Significant experience Specialist BMS)
- State registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Develop skills and demonstrate continued competence to practice

- Has advanced specialist knowledge of the assays performed within their service
- Understands clinical analyser performance evaluation to include complex instrumentation
- Develop knowledge and skills of how to problem solve complex clinical scientific and technical problems
- Has developed a comprehensive knowledge, understanding and ability to use current laboratory software

- Has a good working knowledge of LIMS and other transfusion systems and validation processes
