The Royal Derby Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratories are well equipped and currently include tracked Sysmex FBC analysers, Starrsed ESR, Sysmex coagulation, Beckman Coulter Flow Cytometry, Biorad Variantand Biorad HbA1c analysers and Biorad IH1000's in Blood Bank.The successful candidate will be expected:
- To undertake specialist clinical technical work for any given area within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections of the laboratory service.
- To assist senior staff within the departments maintain and develop the service in line with departmental objectives.
- To assist with the training, instruction and supervision of trainee BMSs, APs and MLAs within the department.
- To help maintain our full UKAS accreditation (ISO 15189) the successful candidate will be involved in service development including verification of equipment, auditing, and reviewing of documents.
- To participate in 24/7 shift systems

Education, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements:
Essential
- Accredited degree or equivalent and HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
Desirable
- Working towards Specialist Portfolio in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrate evidence of supervision of staff
- Current demonstrable Haematology laboratory experience and experience of use of Haematology analysers used on site - Sysmex FBC analysers, Starrsed ESR, Sysmex coagulation, Beckman Coulter Flow Cytometry, Biorad Variant and Biorad HbA1c analysers
- Current demonstrable Blood Transfusion laboratory experience and experience of use of Blood Transfusion analysers used on site - Biorad IH1000'
