As part of the clerical team, you are the first person that our service users encounter therefore, you must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and be able to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.

The position involves a range of clerical duties including meeting and greeting the service users at the reception area, booking appointments and any other clerical duties required to provide the best service possible for the service users and community.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent with relevant experience
  • Experience of working in an administrative environment

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Windows-based application e.g. Microsoft Word

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within an administrative role
  • Organisational skills with an ability to plan own workload and meet any deadlines
  • Dealing with the public and experience of answering telephone calls and responding to queries
  • The ability to work under pressure and to remain calm at all times

Language Skills

Desirable

  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
