The post holder will be responsible for undertaking venepuncture procedures, processing pathology samples, maintaining accurate patient records and supporting the smooth operations of phlebotomy clinics.
Clinical Duties
- Undertake venepuncture procedures for adults and paediatric patients.
- Perform blood collection procedures on patients with difficult venous access where competent to do so.
- Ensure all specimens are collected, labelled and handled in accordance with local protocols and pathology requirements.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately.
Administrative Duties
- Record consultations and activities within EMIS.
- Use other systems including Accurx and TQuest as required.
- Label, prepare and process pathology samples.
- Support appointment management and clinic schedules.
- Maintain stock levels and consumables.

Experience
Essential
- Previous experience as a Phlebotomist
Desirable
- Experience of working in a GP practice
IT Skills
Essential
- Ability to use clinical systems
Desirable
- Experience of EMIS, Accurx and TQuest
Clinical Skills
Essential
- Competent venepuncture skills including difficult bleeds
Desirable
- Paediatric venepuncture experience
Other
Essential
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable
- Ability to support extended hours services
Qualifications

- Accredited Phlebotomy Training Certificate
Desirable
- Care Certificate
