Job title: Bank Patient Transport Driver/First Responder

Department: Patient and Events Medical Services

Hours: Bank, as and when required

Salary: Range 3 point 12 £25,792 pro rata, per annum. Fixed salary.

An opportunity has arisen to join CPG in the role of Patient Transport Driver/First Responder for our Event and Patient Transport service.

You will

  • Be responsible for

the safe transportation of patients/ service users between designated sites

including Hospital, Hospice, Home, Care home, ensuring

all Health and Safety regulations and Road Traffic legislation are adhered to

in relation to transportation and vehicle safety including using advanced

driving skills under blue light for emergency response.

  • Attend

accidents and sudden illness as first responder providing initial first aid and

lifesaving treatment and to assist a qualified practitioner in the on-going

management of such incident this includes moving and handling of individuals on

to stretchers and within wheelchairs.

In return you will be part of a developing service in line with the

wider emergency and urgent care agenda, have access to training and a flexible approach

to work. You will receive ongoing support and development.

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of driving within the local and surrounding area
  • Experience of driving vehicles over 3.5 Ton
  • Experience of carrying out comprehensive vehicle safety checks

Desirable

  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults with a range of needs

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to drive safely and within road traffic legislation requirements
  • Good geographical knowledge of local area of responsibility
  • Ability to work to departmental procedures and where appropriate on own initiative
  • Ability to keep legible and accurate electronic and/or paper records
  • Knowledge of and ability to carry out vehicle safety checks
  • Effective customer care skills

Qualifications

Essential

  • D1 driving entitlement
  • Emergency First Aid at Work/ or level 3 First Response Emergency Care Certificate or willingness to undertake and complete
  • Advanced driving skills (Blue light qualification)

Desirable

  • P.C.V driving licence with manual transmission entitlement
  • NVQ 2 in Health and Social care
  • Driver Qualification Card (CPC)
  • Literacy and numeracy level 2 qualification
  • Moving and Handling Certificate or willingness to undertake and complete
