The successful postholder will be expected to provide and receive routine information which may be complex or sensitive. They will also exchange verbal and written information with a range of individuals, groups, and departments (including patients, staff or carers) relating to enquiries, appointments, admissions and meetings.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in the use of hospital based IT systems would be an advantage.
  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, be educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Training on the NBSS (National Breast Screening System) and RIS Sectra Soliton will be given.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of secretarial / administrative work at a similar level
  • Experience of dealing with external organisations

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in an NHS / Healthcare environment

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally.
  • Computer literacy
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to take minutes of meetings

Desirable

  • To be able to work in a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge

Essential

  • Good knowledge of using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the National Breast Screening Service

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE A-C (or equivalent) grade in English and Maths

Desirable

  • RSA Level 2 or equivalent in Typing / Word processing
  • Customer Care Training

Essential

  • Ability to prioritise workload without supervision.
  • To be aware of and adhere to the Trust's Vision, Mission and Values

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998
