Assistant Psychologist

• to support the collection, analysis, and reporting of outcome measures to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
• to support the collection, analysis, and reporting of the Teams' activity data in order to contribute to the annual reports for schools and commissioners.
• to contribute to audits, service evaluations, and research projects to inform evidence-based practices within the service.
• to keep up to date with relevant research and developments in child and adolescent mental health and psychology

• To provide weekly mentoring to an undergraduate placement student and co-facilitate a reflective practice group for undergraduate and post graduate students on placement in Islington CAMHS

• to join clinicians in the MDT's and assist in the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions, both individually and in group settings.
• to conduct structured assessments using psychometric tools, direct observations, and interviews with children, young people, their families and school staff.
• to deliver brief, structured interventions and assessments to support the work of the wider CAMHS teams.
• to conduct school observations
• to contribute to the formulation and implementation of care plans, ensuring they are evidence-based and patient-centred
• to record and maintain accurate clinical notes in accordance with NHS and professional guidelines
• to utilise clinical supervision and line management supervision effectively and appropriately
• to liaise with wider professional networks including school staff, childrens social care, education, charities etc.
• to constructively outcome clinical work, and support other clinicians in doing so, by scoring routine outcome measures, analysis and preparation of reports
• to join qualified clinicians in facilitating reflective practices
• to write clinically thorough notes, letters and reports to support the emotional, social, health wellbeing of children, young people and their families
• to attend and contribute to weekly/fortnightly MDT meetings, including supporting with actions and minutes.

Essential

• An upper second (or higher) honours degree in Psychology and eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS)

Desirable

• Further post graduate training in relevant areas of mental health practice, psychology, and/or research design and analysis.

• Demonstrate an understanding of children and young people's mental health and how it may present.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: experience of working with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities, experience of working with children and/or young people, experience of working in a research related role in the field of mental health/psychology.

• Demonstrate an understanding of and an ability to incorporate cultural sensitivity and responsiveness to your work with colleagues and clients.
• Experience of implementing outcomes studies/service evaluations in mental health services.
• Experience of service user participation and coproduction, e.g. collecting service user feedback.
• Experience of carrying out psychometric assessments with children and young people.
• Experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist in NHS mental health services.

• High level of communication skills (written and verbal).
• Excellent typing and IT skills and high level of expertise using Microsoft programmes, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Ability to type own notes on the electronic patient records.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and mental health colleagues and multi-agency colleagues such as education staff.
• Ability to form good working relationships and work flexibly and sensitively with others in multidisciplinary and multi-agency settings.
• Quantitative and qualitative research skills and experience.
• A high level of organisational skills, the ability to manage projects autonomously, the ability to be self-motivated and resilient.
• The ability to seek and use advice, support and supervision from senior clinicians appropriately to ensure client safety and meet their needs.
