Assistant Psychologist

The role of the Assistant Psychologist is to support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within the service. The post holder will contribute to psychological assessment and intervention under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the supervising clinician and within the policies and procedures of the service.

The post holder will also assist with clinically related administration, audit, service evaluation, research, teaching and project work.

The successful applicant will be primarily based within the Deaf Adult Community Team but will also support psychological work within Bluebell Ward, our specialist Deaf inpatient service. Clinical supervision and professional support will be provided by Clinical and Counselling Psychologists across both services.

To undertake psychological assessments of clients using psychological and neuropsychological measures, self-report questionnaires, rating scales, structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.

To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a clients problems.

To work with other staff to assess outpatients, develop individualised intervention / treatment plans and review their care.

To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.

To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.

To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties

To contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.

To assist in the design and implementation of service development and Quality Improvement Projects within the service, including initiatives aimed at improving accessibility and reducing health inequalities experienced by Deaf people.

To assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects.

To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes.

To hold a minimum British Sign Language (BSL) Level 3 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent signing fluency.

Training & Qualifications

Experience
