The successful candidate will be required to work in the Adult Cardiorespiratory Enhanced and Responsive Service (ACERS) Psychology Service, which is ...
- Provide psychological assessments to patients with long-term respiratory conditions mainly in the community but sometimes also in the hospital.
- Provide psychological treatments under supervision.
- Co-facilitate group interventions.
- Appropriate to the banding of the role, undertake observations and consultations, and give feedback at meetings.
- Provide mood and cognitive screening to patients with long-term health conditions.
- To utilise research skills for audit and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
- To assist in the preparation and delivery of in-service training/teaching sessions to healthcare professions from other disciplines (nurses, therapists, medical doctors) and presentations in local clinical seminars.

Qualifications
Essential
- First or upper second degree or equivalent in psychology
Desirable
- Post-Graduate Certificate or equivalent in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment or related field
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Ability to demonstrate sound person-centred skills in the engagement of patients within clinical settings
- Computer literate - able to use spreadsheets and computerised information systems
- Well-developed English written and oral communication skills - able to present complex information in jargon-free, reader-friendly ways
Desirable
- Experience of inter-and intra-disciplinary working
- Experience in motivational interviewing
Experience
Essential
- Working with adults with long term health conditions/ in medical/ health teams
- Working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience conducting psychological assessment for adult or older adult clients using CBT and/or one of the other evidence-based psychological treatment modalities
Desirable
- Working with NHS staff in a medical or health setting
- Experience of carrying out health or other promotion work in the acute setting or community
Knowledge
Essential
- Detailed knowledge of psychological interventions for a range of mental health conditions for adults
- Broad background knowledge of the NHS, Local Authority, clinical health services and voluntary sector provision and the legislative frameworks underpinning the provision of health and social care
Desirable
- Detailed understanding of specific policy objectives within mental health
