You will have excellent communication, organisation and problem solving skills with the ability to work with a positive and solution focused attitude, to ensure clinics are booked effectively and patients are managed appropriately along their pathway.

Clinic appointments and knowledge of patient waiting lists would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.

Applicants will ideally have previous NHS or healthcare experience (though this is not necessary) and administration experience. Knowledge of systems such as Allscripts and Medirota would be beneficial though training will be given.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • NVQ customer care 2 or equivalent experience

Experience/Knowledge

Essential

  • Significant proven administrative experience
  • Experience of working in an customer focused environment
  • Experience of managing a high volume of calls during peak periods, prioritising work and situations
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to: relate to a diverse group of professional staff and Public
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrable ability to manage and prioritise workload and work methodically, efficiently and accurately to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience of tactfully and efficiently dealing with a variety of professionals and patients ensuring their needs are met
  • Competent and accurate data entry and excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of confidentiality and its application and maintenance in and out of the workplace

Desirable

  • Experience in keeping systems up to date including using spreadsheets and databases
  • Experience in a hospital or other health care setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience of working with hospital administration systems e.g. Allscripts

Skills

Essential

  • Proficient IT skills experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work within a team and develop good working relationships with colleagues at all levels
