As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with qualified Speech and Language Therapists to support adults who may experience communication difficulties as a result of conditions such as:

Stroke

Dementia

Progressive neurological conditions

Brain injury

Other acquired communication difficulties

No two days are the same, but you may:

Support adults with communication difficulties in their own homes, care homes, clinics and inpatient settings.

Deliver therapy programmes and communication-focused activities under the guidance of Speech and Language Therapists.

Help with planning and carrying out communication groups

Develop communication resources, such as communication aids and communication books.

Liaise with patients, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Organise appointments, maintain records and support service delivery.

You will work both independently and as part of a supportive team, helping people achieve their communication goals and maximise their participation in daily life.
