Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Essential
- NVQ level 3 qualification in Health or Social Care or relevant experience
- Excellent computer/keyboard skills, ECDL or equivalent, proficient in MS Office
- 5 GCSE qualifications with C or above including Maths and English
Desirable
- Communication skills training
- Counselling qualification
- Basic Cancer Course
- Experience co-ordinating a patient workload
- Additional training to Foundation degree / diploma level or equivalent through short courses
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience of working in a health or social care setting
- Minimum 2 years' experience of working with cancer patient
- Awareness of the individual needs of people affected by cancer
- Experience of responding to the support and information needs of others
Desirable
- Previous experience as Senior Support worker
- Experience of working with patients specific to tumour group
- Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK.
- Awareness of Improving Outcomes; A Strategy for Cancer and other national cancer policies
- Knowledge of relevant cancer treatments, interventions and terminology.
- Experience of working without supervision using own initiative
