The successful applicant will be highly motivated and have good communication skills. Experience of working within trauma & orthopaedics and working within an outpatients setting is essential. We are looking for a committed team player who has high standards and is passionate about improving the patient experience through our fracture clinic.

The post holder has continuing 24 hour responsibility for the management of the clinical area including assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care and the setting of standards.

The post holder will have an overall responsibility to manage the running of outpatients clinics within the Specialised Surgery Clinical Business Unit (CBU). This will include fracture clinic and plaster room at both Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent and County Hospital, Stafford. The role will be supported by a band 6 deputy ward leader at each site with delegated responsibility at County Hospital.

Fracture clinic is a fast-paced environment requiring the facilitation of multiple clinics, treatments and plaster room activity. It is essential the post holder has direct related experience within this environment and a clinical background in trauma & orthopaedics.

The post holder will facilitate innovative and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team. They will be directly involved with the implementation and running of Virtual Fracture Clinic.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Degree level study
  • Mentorship course or equivalent

Desirable

  • Formal leadership & management training

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years experience in band 6 leadership role
  • Recent experience of working within an outpatient area
  • Recent experience working within trauma & orthopaedics

Desirable

  • Experience of leading change or implementing new ways of working
  • Holder of the BOA casting certificate
