Job description

Urgent Support Worker (On-Call & Last-Minute Cover) - Home Group Services

Are you passionate about empowering others and ready to step up when support is needed most? We are urgently seeking dedicated, responsive Support Workers to join our team for last-minute and on-call Home Group shifts across Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and surrounding North East areas.

In this role, you will work in a person-centred way with Home Group clients, families, and young people, providing the practical and emotional support needed to help them transition towards independent living.

Immediate & Flexible Shifts: Ideal for candidates looking for ad-hoc, last-minute, or flexible work patterns.

Competitive Pay: £13.45/hr (PAYE)

Varied Shift Patterns: Days, Nights, and Weekends available across multiple Home Group locations.

Impactful Work: A truly rewarding role where your responsiveness directly keeps local services running smoothly.

Location Focus

Primary cover needed across Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and surrounding North East regions. High flexibility regarding work location is a major advantage.

Respond to last-minute or scheduled shift requests to cover Home Group services.

Deliver flexible, person-centred support in line with individual care and safety plans.

Assist with daily living tasks, including meal planning, basic cooking guidance, and life skills development (budgeting, welfare support, employment guidance).

Handle essential housing tasks, including property safety, tenancy sign-ups, and managing low-level anti-social behaviour.

Recognise risks, follow strict safeguarding guidelines, and record accurate notes.

Safe administration of medication in line with standard policies and procedures.

Availability & Responsiveness: Willingness to accept last-minute, on-call, or short-notice shifts.

Experience: Previous experience supporting vulnerable individuals or working in residential housing settings.

Mobility: A full UK driving licence and access to a car is strongly preferred to cover varying locations across the North East.

Resilience & Boundaries: Strong communication skills, calm under pressure, and capable of handling challenging behaviours professionally.

IT & Literacy: Good basic record-keeping skills for end-of-shift reporting.

If you are ready to jump in and make an immediate impact across Home Group services in the North East, we want to hear from you today!

To Apply: Submit your CV directly or contact Jasmine at for immediate consideration.
