Trust Specialist Registrar

The post-holder's duties will be primarily at the John Radcliffe Hospital although occasional contribution to clinics and inpatient care may be required at the Churchill hospital.

The post-holder will participate in the service's inpatient and outpatient activities i.e. experience in operating theatre, regular MDTs and outpatient clinics and postoperative rounds. The post-holder will be expected to participate in the in-service training and teaching; training agreements will be made at the beginning of the appointment.

The post-holder will participate in the full-shift cardiothoracic registrar on-call rota (currently 1:8 resident on-call), dealing with all cardiothoracic referrals and covering the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit on a full shift rota.

Qualifications

Essential: - GMC Full Licence to Practice; - MRCS or equivalent qualification; - Completion of Core Surgical Training or equivalent

Desirable: - 6 months training at registrar level in cardiothoracic surgery

Experience

Desirable: - CALS qualification; - Experience of managing/ performing emergency; - performing emergency sternal reopening
