The Trust Registrar will be responsible for the day-to-day care of all patients under the Consultants. The programme of training for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and stage of training. The successful candidate will be expected to work across the two hospital sites (Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven).

Registration
Essential: - Full registration with the GMC
Qualifications
Essential: - MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable: - MRCS, ATLS; - Care of the Critically ill patient
Knowledge
Essential: - Evidence of understanding and application of knowledge of specialty
Experience
Essential: - Competent in history taking and examination skills; - Previous broad experience in general trauma and general orthopaedics
Training
Essential: - At least 2 years postgraduate experience or equivalent.
Desirable: - Previous registrar experience
Audit
Essential: - An understanding of the principal skills of clinical audit
Desirable: - Completion of an Audit project
Personal Attributes
Essential
- Able to communicate effectively with patients and relatives
- Able to establish good working relationships with colleagues at all levels
- Committed to training
- Possess good organisational skills
- Has the ability to work on own initiative but willing to seek help from senior colleagues as appropriate
Desirable: - Demonstrate awareness of the current UK health care system.; - Has the ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services
Teaching and Research
Essential: - Demonstrate interest in research
Desirable: - Demonstrate experience of teaching undergraduates; - Demonstrate experience of case presentation
