Trainee Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (SWP)

• Delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people in education settings as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs.
• To provide advice, support and knowledge to children and their families in relation to appropriate resources for their emotional wellbeing needs.
• To take responsibility for liaising with practice leads and other practitioners in the team to support effective clinical governance, risk and safety protocols and best practice principles to support improvement alongside young-person centred care.
• To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for young people, parents/carers and school staff.
• To develop a coordinated response to children and young peoples mental health needs by working across agencies.
• Encourage co-production in furthering best practices.
• Strive for quality assurance in data returns for both qualitative and quantitative service evaluations.
• Provide supervision to CWPs and/or EMHPs (from the second year of the programme).

• Over two years experience of clinical supervised practice of working with children and families, including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
• Knowledge of the Educational, Health, Social and Voluntary Sector systems in England.
• Knowledge of MHST national strategy and relevant national policies and guidance in relation to childrens services and knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young peoples welfare in line with the Children Act 2004 requirements and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to deliver training packages on child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health, including delivering psycho education children, young people and their families.
• Demonstrate skills to assess risk using already established assessment tools and if necessary, develop protocols with families and other staff / practitioners to manage risk.
• Ability to personally manage a sensitive caseload.
• Ability to listen empathetically to children and young people and their families whilst showing respect, genuineness, empathy, personal integrity and communication skills.
• Ability to work in partnership with children, families and multi-disciplinary professionals.
• Commitment to using data and relevant measures to assess clinical outcomes.
• Ability to study as a self-motivated learner who can formulate their own progress towards learning objectives and negotiate pathways to achievement with supervisory teams.

Essential

• Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health at Post Graduate level i.e. EMHP or CWP pathways
