An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a trainee Mental Health Practitioner within the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team. This role will focus on...
Will work as a key member and resource of the MDT core team.
This post will offer a challenging and exciting opportunity to gain experience of working across the Mental Health Service in Wyre Forest, developing relationships with Primary Care, partner agencies and wider mental health services.
You will have the opportunity to design and deliver evidence-based recovery focused mental health interventions and groups. Knowledge of delivery psychoeducation within a group environment and 1:1 would be an advantage.
You will have experience of working with this user group in community settings. You will have a registered qualification in mental health nursing, occupational therapy or social work.
The ability to work flexibly as the need of the service demands is essential.
Attend weekly MDT meetings, participate in professionals' meetings, signpost to adjunct services depending on patient need.
Support and guidance to the carers of patients accessing the services.
Be supported in taking part in the duty system and act appropriately when dealing with patients who are experiencing difficulties in the absence of their allocated worker.
Receive clinical and managerial supervision regularly.
A developmental plan will be available for this post. If you meet these requirements you will be offered a Band 6 post within the team.

Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant professional qualification relating to Health or Social Care e.g., in nursing (RMN), social work (BSc/Dip SW), Occupational Therapy (BSc OT)
- Current professional registration
Desirable: - Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
Essential: - Assessment and management of clinical risk; - Working within a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable
- Assessment of people presenting with mental health problems.
- Working in a primary care setting or secondary care setting
- Experience of delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions
- Managing own caseload
- Some community experience (however this can include time as a student or pre-qualification)
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of mental health illnesses, understanding the signs and symptoms
- Knowledge of principles of risk assessment and management
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2006 and other relevant legislation
Additional Criteria
Essential
- Will be required to complete breakaway/de-escalation training
- Will shadow and participate in regular locality duty system if required
- Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
