Technical Instructor for (ICELS)

Manage and maintain a caseload of patients who have been prescribed equipment through the Integrated Community Equipment Loan Service (ICELS).

Review all equipment that has passed its original loan period in the community setting.

Carry out an assessment of the patients current condition/needs to determine need for/ appropriateness of equipment being used, identifying if no longer required.

Identify equipment that may be fault/damaged and arrange replacement undertaking risk assessment to ensure safety of person until new item(s) received.

Liaise with equipment provider to prioritise collection/delivery where items faulty.

Collaborate with patient/relative/carers and the equipment provider to arrange return of equipment no longer needed or not eligible.

Following trust and ICELs policies and clinical justification arrange to down grade equipment where appropriate, e.g. pressure care.

To actively demonstrate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service by identifying and implementing improved ways of working that will have an impact on delivering operational and financial efficiencies for the service that has a positive impact for people and commissioning organisations.

Ensure the delivery of quality outcomes and the management of risk with the use of audit and implementation of research-based care across the Trust.
