You’ll take charge of everyday service delivery, working with a Registered Manager who provides guidance and oversight.
You’ll need to balance the practical demands of running a service with an understanding of each person’s preferences, ambitions and support needs.
- Give colleagues clear priorities and the confidence to make good decisions, remaining approachable when they need help.
- Translate individual support needs into effective staffing arrangements and consistent care.
- Develop your team through regular feedback, coaching and conversations about progress, addressing any concerns constructively.
- Stay close to people’s experiences of the service, using their feedback and input from relatives and professionals to make improvements.
- Review how support is documented and delivered, making sure changes in people’s circumstances are reflected in everyday practice.
- Follow up on incidents and concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken and lessons are shared.
- Keep spending and staff hours under review, making sensible use of the resources available.
- Work with fellow managers on service improvements and contribute to checks and inspection preparation.
You’ll have previously supported adults with learning disabilities and already taken responsibility for supervising colleagues or leading a care team. You should be able to explain how you’ve helped staff develop, handled challenges and maintained good standards.
