Support Worker – Family Time & Contact (Brain Injury) – £18 to £20 per hour
Location: Hungerford, Berkshire (RG17 area), based at the client’s home
Salary: £18.00 to £20.00 per hour, plus £60 per sleep-in night
Hours: Part time, Wednesdays, Thursdays and alternate weekends
Contract: Permanent
We are looking for a Family Facilitator to support a father with an acquired brain injury when his three children spend time with him. Your job is to help him enjoy that time with his children, whether that means cooking tea together, a trip to the park or a weekend away.
It is a focused role with one family, a close-knit care team around you, ongoing training and pay that sits well above typical support work rates. The role is separate from the client’s existing Support Worker team, so you will not be covering general support work.
- Supporting safe, enjoyable contact sessions between the client and his children -
- Helping the client plan and lead activities during his time with his children -
- Helping with meals, light domestic tasks and day-to-day routines during shifts -
- Going along to appointments, outings and the occasional weekend trip -
- Working with the client’s therapy team and wider care team, following the guidance agreed for your role -
- Keeping accurate records and letting the Case Management team know about any wellbeing concerns -
- Keeping contact regular and predictable, working flexibly around the agreed schedule -
- Sleeping in on site on Saturday nights
- Term time: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2:00pm – 7:00pm -
- Alternate weekends: Saturday 9:00am – 10:00pm (waking day), Saturday 10:00pm – 6:00am (sleep-in), Sunday 6:00am – 12:00pm -
- School holidays: weekday shifts will be longer days (for example 9:00am – 7:00pm, exact hours to be confirmed), so you will need to be able to cover these -
- Weekday rate £18.00 per hour, weekend rate £20.00 per hour, sleep-in £60 per night
- Someone active and enthusiastic who is happy to get stuck into activities and days out -
- A warm, friendly manner and the ability to build a good relationship with the client, so he enjoys your company and feels encouraged to make the most of his time with his children -
- A caring, person-centred approach and a real interest in working with children and families -
- Strong professional boundaries and fairness. The family situation is sensitive, so you will need to stay neutral and professional with everyone involved -
- Calm and dependable, with the flexibility to cope with short-notice changes -
- Confidence to solve problems, handle disagreements calmly and ask for support when you need it -
- Willingness to work waking-day shifts and sleep in overnight, and the ability to cover the longer school-holiday days -
- Experience with brain injury, disability or complex family situations is helpful but not essential
You do not need a full CV to get started. Send us a short message about yourself and your experience to . We reply quickly.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a short, friendly video chat (around 10 to 15 minutes, recorded) so the client can meet you and help choose who supports his family.
