Day Services Cromwell Road Resource Centre
Full or Part time hours considered, permanent
Working hours 8-8:30am start with a 4-4:30 pm finish
Salary Range 2 £25,275 pro rata per annum fixed salary point
- Promote independence, dignity
choice, inclusion and wellbeing while supporting meaningful activity, community
participation and the development or maintenance of daily living skills.
- Provide safe, person-centred and outcome-focused support to adults with
learning disabilities attending the day service.
- Support service users to participate in group activities
that promote social interaction, skills development, inclusion and wellbeing.
- Work as part of the team, under appropriate
direction, and follow individual support plans, care plans, risk assessments
and agreed service procedures.
- Support service users to meet their
physical, emotional, psychological and social needs in a respectful, dignified
and person-centred manner, in accordance with individual support plans, care
plans and risk assessments.
- Provide personal
care and practical support where required, including hygiene, toileting, eating
and drinking support, mobility and continence care, while maintaining dignity,
privacy and choice.
- Support meaningful individual and group activities, vocational
educational, recreational and community opportunities that promote
independence, inclusion, skills development and participation.

Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of supporting or caring for people in either an employment, voluntary capacity or personal capacity for a minimum of 1 year
- Experience working part of a team
- Experience of following support plans, care plans or risk assessments
Desirable
- Previous learning disability day service or social care experience
- Experience of supporting people with complex health needs, epilepsy, dysphagia, diabetes or positive behaviour support needs
- Experience of joint working with families, carers, advocates or other professionals
Qualifications
Essential
- Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or equivalent level of competence
- Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care, equivalent experience or willing to complete within 18 months of appointment
Desirable
- Care Certificate
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Relevant Learning Disability or Autism Awareness Training
- Epilepsy Awareness
- Moving and Handling Training
Other
Essential
- Ability to work flexibly with regard to working hours/arrangements, which may include early morning working
- Ability to safely use a range of moving and handling equipment i.e. moving and handling, push/pulling wheelchairs/using hoist equipment
- Ability to work in a variety of settings
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to CPG core values
Desirable: - Understanding of how to promote service-user choice, participation and outcomes within a day-service environment
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Understanding of person-centred support and the needs of adults with learning disabilities
- Good verbal, written and adapted communication skills, including listening, empathy, compassion and patience
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and share relevant information appropriately
- Ability to support personal care, daily living skills, meaningful activity, group activities, community access and independence
- Ability to maintain accurate, factual and timely written or electronic records
- Awareness of safeguarding and ability to recognise and report abuse, neglect, exploitation, avoidable harm, incidents or changes in need
- Awareness of health and safety, infection prevention and control, confidentiality, data protection and professional boundaries
- Ability to follow support plans, care plans, risk assessments, healthcare plans and agreed service procedures
- Ability to deal appropriately with service users who may demonstrate challenging behaviour
Desirable
- Signalong or Makaton experience.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support and proactive approaches to distress.
- Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act, consent and the Care Act 2014.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, person-centred planning and health promotion
- Experience of supporting people who use communication passports or other alternative communication approaches
