Job description

Make a positive change – work for The Alcohol & Drug Service

Make a difference. Support recovery. Change lives.

Are you a qualified and registered Social Worker looking for a role where your skills can genuinely change lives?

Do you want to work with people involved in the criminal justice system, helping them overcome barriers, build meaningful lives and move towards a more positive future?

If so, we’d love to hear from you.

The Alcohol & Drug Service (ADS) is a registered charity that has been transforming the lives of people affected by drug and alcohol misuse for over 40 years.

Our Aspire partnership brings together ADS and Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), combining the strengths of NHS provision with the expertise, flexibility and community focus of the voluntary sector.

With more than 20 years of partnership working, Aspire provides innovative, responsive drug and alcohol services designed around the needs of the people and communities we support.

It’s an exciting time to join the drug and alcohol sector, with career development and progression.

Our Criminal Justice Team works with people involved in the judicial system, supporting them to make positive changes, achieve meaningful goals and move away from offending.

You’ll work closely with courts, probation services and prisons, helping people address the often-complex challenges associated with substance misuse and supporting them to build a healthier, more positive future.

This is a role where every day is different and where your professional knowledge, compassion and ability to build trusting relationships can make a real and lasting difference.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a qualified and registered Social Worker who:

  • Has experience of working with people affected by substance misuse, or a genuine interest in developing their expertise in this area.
  • Is passionate about helping people overcome challenges and make lasting positive changes.
  • Can build effective, trusting relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Is confident working collaboratively with partner agencies, including courts, probation and prisons.
  • Is committed to strengths-based, person-centred practice.

Newly Qualified Social Worker?

We welcome applications from newly qualified Social Workers and can support you through the ASYE programme.

Why join ADS?

At ADS, you won’t just be taking on a job — you’ll be joining an organisation where your work has a direct impact on individuals, families and communities.

  • Salary: £26,682 – £32,559, depending on experience.
  • 29 days’ annual leave, rising to 31 days after 2 years’ service and 34 days after 5 years, plus Public Holidays.
  • Attractive pension package with a 6% employer contribution.
  • Health Scheme.
  • Training and development opportunities aligned to your personalised learning and development plan.
  • Enhanced sick pay.
  • Social Work registration fees paid.
  • The opportunity to join ADS at an exciting time of growth, innovation and positive change.

If you’re ready to use your Social Work skills to help people break the cycle of substance misuse and offending, we’d love to have an informal conversation with you.
