The Duties of the Sterile Services Supervisor is toassistin the process of decontaminationand sterilisation of surgical instruments and medical device...
To be responsible for all duties required for the decontamination and sterilisation of all surgical instruments in a faced paced environment. This will include staff appraisals and 1 to 1's. Further details can be found in the "Detailed job description and main responsibilities" section as well as the attached Job Description and Person Specification.
- Toassist in the safe cleaning, disinfection, decontamination and sterilisation of medical devices and specialised equipment.
- To manage the SSD team who offer the collection and return of re-usable medical devices from wards and departments.
- To inspect and pack surgical instruments and related products ensuring the devices are safe and fit for purpose.
- To undertake all aspects ofdecontaminationand ensure products are safe for product release
- To help distribute processed items to wards and departments
- To undertake and understand the use of P/Cs and tray tracking software / hardware.
- To follow all guidelines set within the Departments Operational policies and theIDSc(Institute of Decontamination Sciences) guidelines for recommended standards and practice.
- To prepare work & prioritise equipmentdaily
- To prepare work rotas, on call rotas, and overtime rotas
- To ensure all matters of health & safety and risk assessment are current & compliant
- To carry out spot checks throughout production to ensure consistent quality is maintained
- To encourage and provide training tonew staff& guests
- To undertake your teams appraisal & performance reviews
- To offer advice and information to Trust and customers
- To ensure all performance tests are compliant allowing Autoclaves & washers to be useddaily
- Toidentifyand take correct action when dealing with all non-conformances
- To ensure any equipment or instrument repairs / maintenance is carried out correctly
- To oversee and if necessary, order andmaintainSSD Stock
- Toparticipate, if necessary, in staff recruitment andselection
20 Toparticipate,if necessary, disciplinary to first line level
21.To ensure all Staff adhere to the departmental procedures & policies
22.To carry out any other duties consistent with the grade or asdeterminedby the Training and Quality Manager in relation to the safe and efficient running of the department.

Qualifications
Desirable
- Institute of decontamination sciences TVQ level 1 or 2
- Educated to GSCS level or equivalent level of education, training, or experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Previous Sterile Services reprocessing experience
Desirable
- Previous NHS experience
Skills
Essential
- Must have the ability to work independently
- Must be able to use a P/C and understand basic IT skills
- Must understand sterilisation and decontamination procedures.
- Must have the flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays and a weekend on call service rota
