  • Reporting to the Endoscopy Unit Managers and Endoscopy Junior Sisters / Charge Nurse, the individual will be responsible for; holistic patient care from admission to discharge; provide cross-site cover as required and participate in the On-call rota. Provide and plan nursing care, and provide effective communication across the multi-disciplinary team.
  • In addition, a contribution to the attainment of JAG Accreditation within the Endoscopy Unit will be expected.

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
  • To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
  • To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadershipstyle which (a) engages, enables and empowers others and (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st Level live NMC registered Nurse
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).

Desirable

  • PP126/7
  • D32/33
  • Post Registration qualification in specialty
  • Diploma/degree in nursing

Experience

Essential

  • Thorough understanding of contemporary nursing issues

Desirable

  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
