As a Staff Nurse within Critical Care, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients, working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team.

Coordinating and delivering safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care in accordance with the NMC Code and Trust policies.

Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised programmes of care, ensuring patients' physical, psychological, and emotional needs are met.

Developing clinical competence in the care of critically ill patients through a structured learning programme, supported by experienced colleagues and the Practice Development Team.

Recognising and responding promptly to changes in patients' conditions, escalating concerns appropriately to senior members of the multidisciplinary team.

Working collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health professional, and support teams to ensure seamless, patient-centred care throughout the critical care pathway.

Supervising, supporting, and contributing to the development of junior nurses, students, and support staff.

Maintaining accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with NMC standards and Trust policies.

Safely administering prescribed medications, including intravenous therapies, while achieving and maintaining competency in medicines management.

Promoting patient safety, dignity, and quality improvement through adherence to evidence-based practice and Trust values.

  • Relevant clinical experience, including that as a student or unqualified nurse.

Desirable

  • Relevant clinical experience since registration
  • Relevant voluntary experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • RN (Adult) with current NMC registration
  • IV competent or willing to undertake within 6 months
