The post holder will be a Speech & Language Therapist for acute inpatient services at the Royal London Hospital. The post holder will be part of a team providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults in the acute setting with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. The post holder will be required to provide input along the various clinical pathways in the acute settings including neurosciences, health care of the elderly, general medicine, respiratory, trauma and Stroke Medicine. The post holder will work as part of the acute SLT team and wider MDT and will be supported and supervised by a Specialist SLT as well as the Clinical Lead SLT.

Qualifications
Essential: - Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent; - Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice
Desirable: - Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with adults with acquired communication / swallowing disorders. This can be from placement however, examples of development of core skills in this area must be demonstrated
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable: - Experience working with clients from multicultural/lingual backgrounds and working with interpreters
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge and demonstration of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to acquired communication/swallowing disorders in adults including aphasia, cognitive-communication disorder, apraxia, dysarthria, and dysphagia
- Knowledge of national policies, procedures and current research relevant to adult neurology and acute medicine
- Knowledge of cultural and linguistic issues in working with a multi-cultural caseload
