In this development post you would be supported with extensive supervision and training to progress to a Band 6 role within an agreed time frame (expected 18 months) and having met specific requirements as outlined in the attached job description document.

This is an exciting position to support to our patients with swallowing and/or communication difficulties following surgery, prolonged intubations, recurrent laryngeal nerve injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injury etc. We help rehabilitate patients from critical care to home, using evidenced based treatments and approaches. You will have the opportunity to support patients on critical care as well as on our surgical and medical wards. You will take a lead role within our stroke team, contributing to weekly MDT meetings and staff training.

Due to the nature of our patients, it would be favourable if you had an interest in developing skills in instrumental swallowing assessments.

We can offer you

  • Regular clinical supervision from your band 7 and 8a colleagues and peer supervision with junior therapists across the MDT.
  • Regular exposure and ample opportunities to develop competencies in FEES, critical care, VFS and tracheostomy management.
  • A small but friendly team with strong emphasis on CPD, innovation, service improvement and research.
  • Regular working hours (Monday Friday).
  • A fantastic place to work, learn and develop. Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital is one of the countrys leading providers for cardiothoracic surgery and cardio-thoracic conditions, having been awarded outstanding by CQC twice and was voted top in the national NHS staff survey for staff engagement and a place to work.

If this sounds like it could be for you, we welcome your application and encourage you to get in touch if you would like further information.
